Unlimited Space @ Yahoo! Mail
I've had a Yahoo! email account for a long time. It was actually a Rocketmail account that was migrated to Yahoo! Mail when Y! bought Rocketmail. Y! Mail is good, but ever since Gmail debuted, I've been a Gmail user.
Gmail has great features like a top notch spam filter and chat integration. But the one feature that lured me to Gmail was the massive space allotment. Right now, I have 2.834 gigabytes of space available to me -- space which I'll probably never use -- but it's certainly nice to know it's there in case e.g. my cousin wants to email me a massive video file of her twins doing something crazy.
Looks like the folks at Y! Mail are about to take the more-space-than-you'll-ever-need idea to the next level. According to the Yahoo! Anecdotal blog, Y! Mail will feature unlimited storage for it's users beginning in May, 2007. That's right: unlimited!
How will Y! handle to inevitable abuse? I was able to find this in the blog enry:
I'm thinking about using the improved Y! Mail system to backup certain files on my network. Would that be considered abuse? Comments welcome.

"...we have anti-abuse limits in place to protect our users..."That's good, because they're going to need it.

I'd stick to Gmail -- Yahoo is unreliable. They list my Geocities web pages for 2 months. After the first week I moved them to Bravenet, then when they came back they lost my mai -- couldn't send or receive for 6 months. Then after 6 months it came back, but they'd lost all my archived mail. And I still can't get my photos and Yahoo 360. On the other hand, Google messed up Blogger, which still doesn't work as well as it used to. You can't win.
I prefer yahoo mail over all other free email services because of their accurate spam filter. their mistakes are a lot less than Gmail.
Anyways, this is just playing with numbers because you will never reach 1GB or more.
Gmail also does have a message size limit and it process messages up to 20 MB so you can't really use it to send huge files.
Anyways as the storage price is really cheap, it's not hard to offer unlimited mailbox for such a big company. there is no actual unlimited space but they increase their storage when they reach for example 90% of their quota.
Yahoo is no good at cathciing spam eityher. I get one or two spam messages a week on Gmail. On Yahoo 99% of the messages I get are spam that their spamblocker hasn't caught.
