Competitor Site Hacked by Tiger-M@te
Was checking out the site of a serious competitor yesterday, which everyone must do every once in a while, and found that his site had been hacked by "Tiger-M@te." The hacker, apparently from Bangladesh (Bangladeshi HackeR), sent props to aBu.HaLiL501, w7sh.syria, Sy-Hacker, NmR.Hacker, Wa7sh Hacker, h311 c0d3.
What really surprised me was how long it took for the site owner to get the site back up. It was down for at least 12 hours.
Weak login credentials? Must be. Probably used his home address for his master server password, or something silly like that.
By my estimation, as we have very similar sites, he lost at least $300 during the downtime. An expensive lesson in server management.
Hacking: what a sorry waste of time, energy and talent. Hackers need serious therapy.

Interesting article, with all the media coverage of website hacking by the likes of 'LulzSec' and 'Anonymous' I think its something that's only going to get worse. Companies and individuals will have to start considering cyber security more and more as technology further pushes us in to the online world.
Imagine if the likes of Amazon was taken down for an hour how much revenue they would loose! crazy!!
Keep weekly backups, change passwords often.
Yeah, I agree. I think all Hackers should be sent to Iran to have both hands cut off. End of Hacking...
I often don't understand what the hacker is trying to achieve?
Like you say, they have a real talent, but they use this for destruction rather than construction...

Indeed. But I'm sure the likes of Amazon have very sophisticated safeguards in place.
My site got hit by hackers but it didn't take me nearly that long to get it back up. Hackers suck.
