.IN Names Already Starting to Sell!

Looks like the .IN name space is off to a good start. Veteran domainer "Wot" sold the domain name WhoIs.co.in for $2,500, a very fair price for this great name. I've seen some other .IN names around with great potential, like Whats.in. Whats.in is an excellent novelty name and to be perfectly honest I am quite envious! Come on you .COM diehards, think about it: which is a better name a) whats.com or b) whats.in? Whats.in is exceptionally brandable and memorable, no doubt. You can start entire publishing empire around a domain like that. It's very easy to imagine a Fashion/Stlye magazine called Whats.in.

I'm looking forward to tracking more .IN & .CO.IN sales.

In other interesting sales news, PetSupplies.com fetches a very handsome $75,000 on AfterNIC. Now don't you wish you'd invested in a few pet related domain names? I know a lot of domainers are salivating at the news of this sale, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a mad rush of new registrations for pet related domain names in all extensions.

Isn't it nice to see a notable sale of a real domain name and not a typo domain name?

Very nice to see a Source for Domain Names out there posting on .in extensions! An to be mentioned in it, very very nice!

Hopefully, through all this new extension business things will settle down and the websurfing community will begin to recognize all these new .tld's and use them. It can only make the web a larger and free'r place for us all :)

I agree 100%. There are a number of .COM domainers out there who are conspiring against the ccTLD's; with the expansion of freely available domain extensions, .COM names will start to lose their value. But expansion is inevitable and it's a good thing for the Internet. What does .COM mean anyway? .COMPANY? That is so 90's! Names like your Whats.in are the future of the Internet in my opinion.

The "new extension" domain market is in it's infancy and those domainers with a little vision should reap the benefits.

The Indian market in particular excites me because of the enormous potential offered by a country of over 1 billion people and with english widely spoken and understood. If only 1% of the population are on the net then that is 10 million people- mind boggling.

AS mentioned I have already had one sale and a few offers via my sit www.TajMahal.co.in . We are getting around 400 direct type ins per day, and climbing, and 87% of that is from India.

Very encouraging.
